FAQs

Is there an age requirement to rent from you?

We try to do business with clients who are twenty-five years and older because of our insurance policy restrictions. Having said that, based upon your circumstances, whenever we can, we try to be accommodating.

In case you are below twenty-five, try checking with your insurance company to determine if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.

Are your rooftop tents family friendly?

Absolutely! Please keep in mind that with our rooftop campers you would need to climb a small ladder. If this sounds like a concern, we also offer an extra tent with each of our packages which you can set up on the ground beside the camper vehicle. This may be more suitable for both you and your young ones.

How many individuals can your camper vehicles fit?

We are able to fit three individuals at most, though if there are more within your group, we do provide an extra tent, too. With this, we can easily accommodate about five people. Each of our trucks has 5 seatbelts.

Do you provide surfboards?

Yes, we provide both surfboards and boogie boards and fins upon request for a fee. Just tell us beforehand if you would like to rent one, so that we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.

Do we receive a guide book or a map with the nicest areas to check out on Kauai?

Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to see & camp out on Kauai.

Greatest Locations For Camping Outdoors On Kauai & Camping Permits FAQ

Am I able to visit any beach front to camp?

You could go to any beach, however, you can only set up your camp in designated camping sites. This is the usual practice here on Kauai. We’ll give you a list of the greatest locations to explore and to camp in. Please note that driving a vehicle on the beaches isn’t allowed on Kauai.

Are we allowed to camp in the wild or are we only able to visit designated camping sites? If so, how much will it cost?

No, wild camping isn’t permitted in Kauai. You should only go camping in designated areas with secured camping permits. The fee is approximately $3 per night stay in many Kauai county parks, but private campgrounds may be a bit more. One advantage of these camping grounds is that you have complete access to facilities, like showers, bathrooms & picnic kitchen tables. Please note that if you opt to go camping on the county campsites, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.

Do we have to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?

It is definitely a better to get your Kauai camping license before your arrival. For the majority of private campsites, which we always recommend first, you can secure your licenses online and also in person in the respective office.

If you decide to camp at a county campsite and set up a ground tent, you can obtain permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.

Up-front, the costs are $3 per night for non-residents of Hawaii. Payment methods accepted with this application are money orders & cashier’s checks. Nevertheless, you don’t necessarily have to book your camping licenses prior to your arrival. You could also get them at the designated permit offices on the island, which is typically easier.

What is the processing time for getting camping permits?

Whether you decide to go to a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you decide to go to a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it might take quite a while to get your permits. Permits can be bought at the license offices on Kauai once you have arrived; in-person permits are given on-the-spot.
